Plasma and polymer material surface modification technology

Basic introduction of plasma:

Plasma, also known as plasma in Chinese, is a partially or completely ionized gas, a collection of particles such as electrons, ions, atoms, molecules or free radicals. Because its properties are similar to those of gas and liquid, some people call it the fourth state of matter. There is very little plasma that exists naturally on Earth, such as lightning, aurora, etc., but there is more plasma that is artificially created, such as fluorescent lamps, neon lights, plasma televisions, etc.

With the advancement of the electronics industry and technology, the demand for new materials and new applications continues to grow rapidly. Some polymer materials have excellent characteristics, but their low surface energy makes them difficult to combine or process with other materials. In order to improve product performance and function, plasma modification technology can be used to treat the surface of the material. In the process, no strong acid, strong alkali or other chemical drugs are needed, and the process is environmentally friendly and pollution-free, making it one of the most popular surface modification technologies.

The principle of plasma surface modification technology:

Plasma is a high-energy ionized gas. Due to its high energy and high reactivity, it is widely used in the modification of polymer material surfaces. In plasma surface modification technology, the material is placed in low-temperature plasma, and the ions and molecules in the plasma interact with the material surface, triggering a series of chemical and physical processes. These processes include surface cleaning, activation, thin film deposition, and structural changes. These microscopic changes can change the material properties at the macro level, such as surface roughness, wettability, wear resistance, etc. At present, plasma modification of polymer materials can be roughly divided into the following forms: plasma etching, substrate purification, improvement of polymer material and part adhesion, improvement of polymer film printing performance, hydrophilicity or Applications such as hydrophobic modification.

Our company has roll-to-roll vacuum sputtering equipment, so we can provide plasma surface modification services for flexible polymer materials. If you have any needs, please contact us by email.
