Common Functional R2R Vacuum Sputtering Applications and Target Selection
Roll-to-Roll Sputtering is a continuous production mode with mass production, high efficiency, and specializes in dealing with flexible materials, such as plastic films and metal foils. This kind of flexible materials can be coated with different metals and alloys by vacuum sputtering, which can produce coatings with specific functions and applications in industry, science and technology, medical care, energy, military and other industrial fields.
Roll-to-roll sputtering can achieve the following functional coatings:
- Conductivity: Depositing metals (such as copper, aluminum, silver) to form conductive films for use in circuits or conductive layers.
- Optical function: manufacturing anti-reflective films, reflective films, and filter films for use in optical components or display screens.
- Shielding: Electromagnetic shielding films, infrared shielding films, etc., are commonly used in electronic equipment.
- Corrosion protection: Adding an anti-corrosion coating (such as titanium or nickel-chromium alloy) to a flexible metal or other substrate.
- Barrier properties: Create high-barrier films for use in food packaging or flexible electronic devices.
- Antimicrobial: The antimicrobial surface is achieved by sputtering antimicrobial materials such as silver or copper alloys.
